Enginerd This...

In recognition of National Engineer Week (have you hugged an engineer yet this week? me neither...), here's a deep exposition on why geeks and nerds are worth it.
Coincidentally, for all you enginerd wannabees, I found a review of The Physics of the Buffyverse
My brother's a physics geek - that picture on the left is a photo of him all decked out for his birthday last year. I know what he's getting for his next birthday...

Stake This...

Buffy's one of my favorite 'classic' shows on TV. I'll admit, I'm a Joss Whedon fan - Buffy, Angel, Firefly, all that great stuff. Great stories, deep characters, nice eye candy... everything you expect from TV.
Anyway, I came across this article about Buffy Season 8. While I'm not a comic book nut, it is interesting (and fun!) to see these cross-over's happening.
I may have to find a trench coat and make my way to the local comic book store. Don't say anything to me if you see me... I wasn't there.

Daylight Save This...
Here's a classic case of good intentions gone wrong. The US Powers That Be moved daylight savings time up a couple weeks this year, but forgot to tell most of the devices in the world. This will be interesting to sit back and watch.
I have no idea what the impact will be, but I suspect there will be occasional instances of fast food signs showing breakfast menu's well past lunch, slightly increased traffic as 'heavy traffic time' will be slightly off, my Blackberry and my Outlook Calendar fighting with each other about when I should be where, etc.
Good thing those folks in Washington are looking out for us to save some pennies by cutting back a fraction of my electricity bill for a few weeks. If you ask me, the money would be better spent funding this stuff and getting out of the oil business.
Maybe I need a drinking game for extended daylight savings time.

- Every time you manually set a clock you shouldn't have to, drink!
- Every time your Tivo records the wrong show, drink!
- Every meeting you're late for (or is it early?), drink!
